Havaianas Flip Flops Recall
The famous flip flop brand is now recalling certain models for children. This is due to high levels of lead which is used in decorative paints of the well-known “rubber slippers”.
Lead is used to make the paint durable. Even in small amounts, it can make you have negative effects such as loss of appetite, constipation, anemia, etc. But in children, effects are worse because their kidneys are a lot more susceptible to damage. Pregnant mothers in their last trimester exposed to lead can damage their growth and development, even resulting to miscarriages or still birth.
It is disappointing to know that this brand has high levels of lead too, especially in models for children! People pay a great deal of money to buy and collect these stuffs. I thought that I should just be vigilant of items that come from China. Well, I guess not anymore! How would we know if the goods that we buy are safe. Isn’t it but right that the government allows items to be sold after they are screened. Imagine the panic of the parents who bought their children these expensive flip flops, later knowing that they may be poisoned by it!
Oh well!!
