Garlic: Wonder Drug

Garlic has been known to be healthy. They say it can cure the common cold and flu, can treat acne and can lower ones cholesterol- preventing blood clots and lowering blood pressure. It can also be a natural antibiotic and a powerful anti-oxidant.

Studies show that raw garlic can be most effective, though it can irritate the stomach at times. But there are studies conducted stating that different ways of cooking affect the garlic’s effectiveness.

Baking or boiling the garlic for three minutes is as good as raw. Crushing then cooking for six minutes is even better. Microwaving the garlic neutralizes its health benefits.

So next time you cook with garlic, crush it first (to release its flavor and keep its good effects) then add it a few minutes before you finish cooking.

Bon Appetit!
