Fly Seair!

My first flight with seair was… let’s put it this way… an adventure itself. My loved ones and I went to boracay for the holidays. We thought of trying the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (almost all newly opened terminals and ports are named after the parents of GMA!) in Clark, Pampanga. Seair had the only flight available from Clark to Caticlan and vice versa. Gosh! Our plane going to Boracay seats only 19 people! It was smaller than a mini bus- of course without the wings! More like a Toyota Grandia van!

Frankly, I got scared! The pilot didn’t have the normal cockpit door.. you can see him from your seat while drinking his “fit n right” juice drink. No safety instructions whatsoever- no turn off your cellphone, no life vests under your seats, no buckle up your seatbelts.. No flight attendant and no overhead bins. The pilot just waived goodbye to the crew at the tarmac.. through an open window in front of him!!! The left rotor started to turn.. then the right.. It was loud and smells burnt gasoline. We started to move forward. It was wiggly but alright! I slept almost through the entire flight- consciously or unconsciously, maybe to not get scared through it!

The good thing is that Seair provides free shuttle to the seaport and free boat ride to Boracay.. back and forth.

Our return flight was kind of unrelaxing for afternoon flights are usually delayed. In our case, for more than an hour. We were luckier than others because their flights had to be diverted to Kalibo (another 2 hours drive) for them to ride a bigger plane. This time, it was a 32-seater with a cockpit and one flight attendant. It had in-flight magazines and snacks! Though it was still scary since we hear this loud machine-like sound when the plane encounters a bump on the road- a lot of bumps if I may say!

So, Boracay is not the only adventure.. Going to and back is another!
